antique men's blk wool formal swallowtail coat + trousers, coat sz 41, pants 36w

I buy antique linens at local estate sales, and always have an eye out for antique clothing.  Finally I have something for you gents out there!
This is an antique swallowtail coat and trouser ensemble.  It is made of black wool and has a label from the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, as well as individual labels for the name of the man it was made for.  This is a traditional style, so it is hard to date; that union label was in use from 1934 to 1976, and there is a metal zipper fly, so I would guess it was made in the 30s or 40s.  It is the classic tail coat, with the jacket cut short in the front and having   " tails in the back with two buttons above the tails.  There are six buttons in the front arranged in a V, and the lapels are notched and have black satin.  The front lapel buttonhole for your boutonniere is hand stitched, as shown.  Each sleeve has two buttons.  The entire coat is lined with black taffeta.
The trousers are also traditional in cut, with a metal zipper, adjustable tabs for waist size, and buttons for braces.  There is a black satin stripe down each outer leg, and the hem has more than 2" turn-under in case they need to be lengthened.
The coat is marked size 41: it measures 17" across the front from shoulder to shoulder; 21" across the front at underarms; 23" sleeve length from shoulder; 21" length from center to front waist; 25" length of tails from waist to end
The trousers are marked 36 waist and have a 31" inseam and 15" rise; the length from waistband to hem is 42.
This ensemble is in excellent condition with no real condition issues.  I did notice what may be previous repairs one on the jacket's left shoulder and one on the inner right leg, both shown in the last two photos.  They are very hard to spot, but there may be more pinholes.  There are no rips or tears or funky odors and the fabric is not brittle.  This is a great survival and wonderful formal look - perfect for musicians, performers, photographers . . .
This fabric is a very soft and drapey matte silk crepe.  The photos taken on the dress form do not do it justice because the dress form is a size 4 and this is slightly smaller: it will drape on your body for a flattering look.  The finishing on this is first rate, and it is in new and unused condition, stored in my smoke free home.  It is a great look by itself or under a jacket.
